wood, wood,and more wood
That pretty much sums it up. We didn’t get out on the water til 4ish. We went as far South as Pierces. I had some fish in there a month ago, but I can tell you that they aren’t there now….yikes. After that I went into Blanco and absolutely smoked em. I caught numbers of fish on a squarebill, but the nice fish came from Jaime and her double gold willow Jo Baby Char/white 3/4 spinnerbait. Unfortunately she was 0 – 5 in landing the fish. The last fish was a heart-breaker and could of beat her 9-13 pb from 4 years back.
I should of checked her line……she did a great job getting that walrus out of the bush she was in, but she made one last attempt to get back into it and that’s when the line popped. ugh. The other 4 that got off thought they were MJ…..fun to watch, but not good for Jaime photo ops….lol. The girlies had a great time as well in the timber. They fought and lost several solid tree fish….lol and I do mean the ones with bark. They did boat two though.
I threw a lot of plastics while the girls threw spinnerbait and I did not get a single bump. I really feel that these fish were suspended in the tops of these bushes and trees. All of our action came from dragging moving baits(squarebills and spinnerbait) through bushes and limbs in depths of 10 ft to 1.5 ft. The water is still pretty chalky at best here on the North end of the lake. Most of the fish we boated were like the one Sierra caught, very pale.
Great time with my girlies and I am very happy they got into plenty of action.
